Working mothers are entitled to 16 weeks of paid maternity leave at the birth of their Singapore Citizen child. For the first two confinements, the first 8 weeks of maternity leave will be employer-paid, and the last 8 weeks will be funded by the Government. For the third and subsequent confinements, all 16 weeks of leave will be funded by the Government. The amount of reimbursement from the Government will be capped at $10,000 per 4 weeks (inclusive of CPF contributions).
The 16 weeks of paid maternity leave is to be consumed as a block and mothers can start taking maternity leave up to 4 weeks before the date of delivery of the child. The first 8 weeks of maternity leave MUST be consumed as a block. However, the last 8 weeks can be taken flexibly over the period of 12 months from the date of confinement, subject to the mutual agreement between you and your employer.

You will need to decide on citizenship. If mother is Chinese and father is Singaporean it is not automatic, a decision will need to be made by the parents at birth as to the Childs citizenship.
