pr is a status
apply pr - usu terms for 5 yrs, so in 5 yrs, not necessary to pay fees for other type of pass/visa or worry aobut if you need to extend the other type of pass/visa
it is not a must, it is your choice,
PR more convinent
but not sure if pr application need to pay tax, only know that you have to pay application fee and ic fee, re-entry pass fee, etc...

PR多交的是公积金，不是税。
公积金存在你的公积金账户上，还算是你自己的。

pr needs to pay cpf, while your employer also pays you more (cpf-not cash)
it is actually a benifit, not a burden. Although you can not get as much as what your real salary is each month, in a few years, you will have a lot money stored in your cpf account.

no, student pass is only proof of student status
once graduate, your status no more there, of course you can not use that pass
besides, when start to work, most often, people will cancel student pass and exchang it to ep, sp, wp. pr etc...
