The Position
The primary purpose of this position is to support and drive the structured products and derivative business within the Global Financial Products and Securities (FP&S) business of Financial Market Services (FMS). As a product specialist, the individual will be responsible for all aspects of structured products: development, marketing, structuring, sales and execution. The position will also assume responsibilities for activity in the underlying products (eg derivatives) as required.
Specifically, the individual will structure and sell products to the Bank’s clients that require customized assets or risk management solutions (including off-balance sheet products). The individual will be part of a global team that works very closely with FMS sales and traders, LoB Relationship Manager’s (RM’s) and regional management, and our internal business partners to create the solutions/products preferred and needed by clients. The person will also work directly with internal and external traders in the pricing of products and managing the residual risk of any positions held. The position may also manage proprietary risk positions.
Responsibilities
Responsible for meeting individual, team and global budgets for structured products and derivatives. The incumbent will generate revenue by structuring and selling a wide variety of suitable products (value added structures for risk management and investment purposes) to internal and external clients, and by managing proprietary risk positions within specified guidelines and risk parameters.
Implement and maintain a global product platform that is integrated with the business partners and has appropriate controls, processes and documentation (legal, operational, regulatory) in place to support these products in all the relevant branches and booking centers.
Develop and maintain relationships with clients, appropriate FMS staff (Global FP&S team, local and global sales and traders, local Heads of FMS), business partners (regional LoB and AXP management, RM’s), support staff (GCO, Op’s, Compliance, Credit, Risk Management), and external dealers and providers.
Support the information and training needs of FMS staff, business partners, and clients.
Manage and provide overall leadership on the impact of global political, economic, financial or regulatory issues that may adversely effect the financial position of the Bank, and/or create opportunities for the present and future. Ensure regulatory and compliance procedures are adhered to.
Develop working relationships with FMS staff, support groups, business partners, external providers and clients that enable the Bank to structure appropriate value added solutions and products.
Achieve budget by working with business partners and clients to identify opportunities and needs, and creating innovative and appropriate solutions. Develop and maintain a global product platform that is integrated with the business partners.
Service the information, product and product training needs of FMS staff, business partners and clients.
The incumbent will be expected to participate in marketing trips with RMs.
Experience & Qualifications
A degree in finance or a technical field is preferred.
Derivatives and structured product experience (structuring, pricing, execution, marketing, sales)
Knowledge of operational/tax/credit/regulatory issues
Ability to quantify and manage risk in derivative instruments
Strong analytical and technical skills that can be practically applied to business partner and client needs
Communications and presentation skills
Marketing and sales experience
