1)
Thermo-Fluid Transient Modeling Engineers – Shanghai, China (2 positions)
Job Description
We are looking for highly motivated and results driven system modeling engineers to join the Modeling, Analysis, Simulation and Computation (MASC) group at Carrier Corporation. These positions focus on the development of dynamic and transient models and software to support the development of system level controls and solutions to accelerate product development and achieve new levels of product efficiency.
The MASC group at Carrier Corporation is responsible for developing and maintaining our capability in system modeling focusing on steady-state, dynamic, and building/supermarket energy modeling software. The main objective of this group is to increase Carrier capability and skill set in system and component modeling and simulation to increase the quality of our products and accelerate product development, while eliminating the need for extensive product development testing. Another key objective is to develop new modeling process and software tools to support Carrier sustainability and environmental strategies, integrated buildings initiative and the establishment of system solutions to meet these challenges. This is a global team based in 4 locations: Syracuse, USA; Indianapolis, USA; Montluel, France; and Shanghai, China.
Specific responsibilities:
Develop physics-based and data-driven thermo-fluid models of HVAC and Refrigeration systems and components with focus on transient and dynamic behavior.
Design experiments to calibrate and validate physics-based models to achieve the required model accuracy and range of applicability.
Team up with controls engineers to apply transient models to drive the development of control architectures and algorithms to achieve new levels of energy efficiency and system integration.
Participate in projects to advance Carrier capability in steady-state (component and system), building energy, and product family modeling.
This position is based in Shanghai, China.
Experience
The prospective candidates should have at least 2 years experience in dynamic modeling of vapor-compression and/or power generation systems including related components like heat exchangers and compression technologies. Strong capabilities in computational simulations, physics based modeling, and dynamic system analysis is required. Working knowledge of Modelica/Dymola, C/C++, Matlab/Simulink, Visual Basic and Fortran is highly desirable. Some experience with system identification, control system architecture, and algorithm development is required.
Education
Candidates should possess a MS or PhD in Mechanical or Controls Engineering, Physics with 1-5 years experience. Fluent English (both written and spoken), solid technical writing, presentation, and communication skills. Ability to work as a part of a multidisciplinary team and in a global environment is required.
