2. The child can only change address in exceptional circumstances even though moving to the within 1 km address, MOE will evaluate the circumstance case by case. The child may not able to remain in the school.
Q. Under what circumstances will MOE allow the child to remain in the school even though the family is unable to reside at the address used for registration for at least 30 months from the commencement of the P1 Registration Exercise?A Para 1. MOE recognises that some families may face exceptional circumstances that prevent them from remaining at the address for the entire duration of the child’s primary school studies. We wish to assure parents who find themselves in such cases that MOE is prepared to allow the child to remain in the registered school, provided they are able to provide compelling grounds to justify the change in residential address, e.g. severe economic hardship or matrimonial disputes that necessitates the move.
A Para 2. MOE will evaluate and assesses the circumstances for each case, before making a decision as to whether to transfer the child out of the school.
A Para 3. Parents who move to a residence that is within the same home-school distance category as the declared address used for registration, can continue to fulfil the 30 months stay condition based on the new address.
