Zetec, Inc. is seeking candidates for the full-time role of Engineering Manager, Hardware-Software in Malu, China. This position is responsible for ensuring products meet all internal requirements and external quality standards in a low-volume, high-mix, complex manufacturing environment, with worldwide operations.

ESSENTIAL TASKS & DUTIES:
Departmental Execution
Lead multi-discipline engineering development team in design, qualification, and production hand-off of Zetec hardware and software products. These products are utilized for non-destructive inspection in a variety of industrial settings and include eddy current acquisition instruments, software and probes, as well as other motion control devices to enable inspection processes.
Overall engineering responsibility for completing development deliverables on time, within cost, and to specification.
Work with Product Manager to identify and incorporate customer requirements for new opportunities, requests for quotation, and field performance of existing products.
Support manufacturing in hand-off of new designs, resolution of production issues, and improvement initiatives.
Manage resource allocation and priorities between projects.
Research, identify, and investigate opportunities for new designs and products that may improve company profitability and support Business Unit and Zetec corporate objectives.
Using the applicable product development process, ensure that products meet the requirements defined by development team(s). This includes ownership of project plans, functional specifications, design reviews, budgets, and cross-functional leadership.
Identify process gaps: create and manage process and/or infrastructure improvements in areas of product definition, design control, and “best practices” tools and methods.
Ensure departmental procedures are followed and recommend changes where appropriate.
Team Management
Provide technical expertise and leadership to the design team comprised of mechanical, electrical, firmware and software engineers and related support staff.
Establish annual group performance goals and expectations and participate in the performance management process.
Develop, motivate and maintain a high performance, multi-disciplinary development group.
Ensure that all assigned personnel receive appropriate training and resources to perform their jobs effectively and efficiently.
Continuously improve department capabilities through appropriate investment in people, processes and tools.
Responsible to maintain appropriate skill sets and performance levels throughout the group.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:
Interface with managers, supervisors and staff to maintain a positive working environment.
Work effectively with sales, marketing, customers and manufacturing in a cross-functional team environment.
Follow all company safety policies and procedures.
Conduct regular departmental meetings..
Implement “best-in-class” development and program management processes
QUALIFICATIONS:
The individual in this position will be managing a team of engineers in the Zetec Malu, China manufacturing facility. Occasional travel to the Zetec Headquarters in Snoqualmie, Washington will be required. Must be able to obtain U.S.Visa.
Knowledge & Skills
Strong English language skills (verbal and written).
Experience developing and designing electro-mechanical systems, software or components.
Leadership ability and proven excellence in developing high performance engineering teams.
Excellent interpersonal communication skills.
Computer skills using a variety of software tools, such as MS Office, computer-aided-design and analyses, MS Project, and Product Data Management (PDM) applications.
Project management skills and experience.
Education Minimum Requirements/Equivalent
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Computer Science.
Experience:
10+ years design and development experience in a manufacturing environment.
Minimum 5 years of experience managing a design team.
Minimum 5 years of successful project management experience
WORKING CONDITIONS: Work will be conducted in an air conditioned, non-smoking lab type environment. Each employee has their own desk equipped with a workstation and additional hardware as deemed necessary. All software tools needed to perform the requirements of the job are provided.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: This position requires occasional standing, walking, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling and reaching/working overhead. Sitting is continuous. Occasionally, there are stairs to climb as well as lifting/carrying of test equipment weighing approximately 20 to 40 lbs. Average vision and hearing is sufficient.
