Workplace childcare kit to launch in May
To raise awareness of the government funds available to childcare operators setting up shop in workplaces, the Ministry of Community Development, Youth and Sports (MCYS) will launch an information kit in May.
Minister of State for MCYS Madam Halimah Yaacob made the announcement on Friday after touring the premises of childcare centre Learning Vision at Changi Business Park.
At the moment, only 35 of over 900 childcare centres here are in workplaces.
Madam Halimah hopes that more companies will tap on the grants available. For instance, employers are eligible for a one-off capital grant or purchase of furnishings and equipment up to $50,700.
'If employers think having a centre is important and useful, they will provide space in their companies for that,' said Madam Halimah.
