Singapore's construction boom continued last year and the sector looks set to remain robust this year. Parliamentary Secreatary for National Development, Dr Mohamad Maliki Osman says building and construction contracts awarded last year reached $24.5 billion -- or a 46 per cent increase from 2006.
Dr Maliki says robust construction demand is expected to continue this year to reach between $23 billion and $27 billion, and like 2007, demand will be fuelled again by the private sector. He also expects construction GDP growth rate to be sustained at a double-digit pace this year.
