Legal Guardianship for International Student in Singapore

Dear Uncle Chung,

I have some queries regarding Legal Guardianship for International Student in Singapore.

There is this 12 years old International Student in Singapore. His parents are not living in Singapore with him. He is staying with his relative. This relative is his "practical" legal guardian. However, there is not any formal document to certify the guardianship.

My question is: In certain circumstance, a proof of "Guardianship" is needed for this relative to perform certain task in regards to this child. What kind of proof is considered legal in Singapore? Consent from parents? Need to be certified by lawyer or Court?

Thanks a lot.

Thanks for your reply. Howeveer, would you mind clarifying a bit further?
1, What is the general procedure to get this Deed done?

2, Do we have the write the Deed document by ourselves or by lawyer? Or are there Standard Templates from Court to use?

3, Do the parents need to be in Singapore?

4, Should we approach a Lawyer or the Court for assistance?

Thanks.

1. Get a lawyer to draft up and to execute.
2. Either is fine. Better to go through lawyer.
3. If they are in China, need to be executed before notary public.
4. Lawyer
