my 2 cents Murex is very famous in the industry. Murex pro with a few years exp are highly valued
1. It provides platform to support banking process from Trading Life Cycle, Finance to Risk Management for almost all products.
2. Strong in Risk part like Credit Limit / VAR.
3. Global headcount over 1,500. A few hundreds in SG? Not sure...
4. Typical career path will be Production Support -> Implementaion Analyst -> BA / Presale, It takes a few years. You can jump to bank IT as well.
5. They emphasize that they are product provider, NOT only consulting firm, neither risk management company. They care their products and are proud of it. So notice this when you go interview.
6. Most staffs in SG support local/regional banks only. Not sure, you can ask them for more details.
7. The technical test includes maths, programming, database table design/query, Unix command, Windows admin knowledge, binary numbers, finance. All are basic questions. Most chinese compute-engin students shld find it ok. While timing is a bit tight. On the other hand, make sure you do well in the part said strong in your resume!
8. For the interview part, I think ppl with tech consulting experience and good representation skills have some advantage. Try to understand vendor life. That may help.
I went interview twice, last year and this year. Rejected both times :( I guess they mass interview, so you really need to stand out in the interview to show you fit their culture.
