Microsystems Technology Laboratory at the Department of Mechanical Engineering National University of Singapore is inviting applications for the position of Research Fellow / Postdoctoral Fellow in the area of optical micro systems.
Requirements
Education: Ph.D in Mechanical Engineering, Optical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics, or related discipline.
Candidates, with Ph.D. or postdoctoral experience in two or more of the following techniques/areas are preferred:
1. Optical spectroscopic techniques for bio and chemical sensing
2. MEMS, Optical MEMS, micro Optics
3. Micro and nano fabrication techniques
4. Wave optics, optical spectroscopy, and laser spectroscopy
Proficiency in data acquisition, real time control and programming using C/C++, Matlab, Labview is highly advantageous.
Candidate must have strong problem-solving skills, good verbal and written communication skills and excellent team work abilities.
Responsibilities
The successful candidate is expected to be involved in existing research projects and possibly initiate new ones. Responsibilities will include: fundamental and applied research in optical / laser spectroscopic techniques for chemical sensing, development of micro optical systems and optical MEMS devices, and exploring of new applications of micro and nano optical systems.

Requirements
Education: Master's Degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering, Optical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics, or related discipline.
Candidate should familiar with: microfabrication processes (photolithography, thin film deposition, and etching), MEMS design and modeling (finite element analysis such as ANSYS), and MEMS device testing. Candidate must have good verbal and written communication skills and excellent team work abilities.
Responsibilities
Job responsibilities will include device fabrication; process development; MEMS structure design and optimization; functionality and performance testing of the MEMS devices and assisting in the operations of the Laboratory.
