Hi Uncle, my friends and I rented an HDB flat, and the contract starts from this August.(This is a renewed contract. We have been staying in this flat from 2009.)
Last Monday(Sept 5th), the landlord called, saying that some neighbours complained to HDB that we close the door heavily and talk loudly. So the landlord and the agent came on Sept 6th, telling us that he wanted to terminate the contract because we had been complained. He asked us to move out by the end of this month. He also wanted to keep the deposit, not return to us.
We are sure that we never talk that loud to disturb neighbours, and maybe sometimes the door is shutted not that gently. However, we think the noise was caused by someone else who smoke and talk near the lift lobby. (Our flat is next to the lift lobby.)
Is there anything we can do to get our deposit back at least?
