yes. The nearest airport is san francisco airport
and you can take train from the airport (BART + CalTrain). There's a Caltrain station at Palo Alto. At the train station you can take a free (at least it's free in 2006) shuttle bus that goes around Stanford.
Be careful with the Caltrain schedule. Not every train stops at Palo Alto, and waiting time could be pretty long in weekends.
Actually you should learn to checkout this information on your own. Otherwise it'd be difficult to travel in an alien country.
